The College of Hotel and Tourism Management (CHTM) at Sophitorium has been dedicated to providing practical, industry-relevant training to its students since its inception. To date, over 100 candidates have benefited from our Industrial Training (IT) program. Our esteemed partners in this initiative include renowned establishments such as Mayfair Hotels & Resorts in Gopalpur and Puri, Sterling Resorts in Puri and Ooty, Eco Retreat in Konark, Swosti Chilika Resort in Ganjam, Ashiana Hill View in Angul, and Ashmita Holidays in Bhubaneswar. These collaborations ensure that our students receive hands-on experience in some of the best hospitality environments.
The IT program spans a comprehensive three-month period, during which students rotate through all four major departments within a hotel. This immersive approach is designed to provide a holistic understanding of hotel operations, from front office and housekeeping to food and beverage service and kitchen operations. By engaging in real-world tasks and responsibilities, students gain invaluable insights and practical skills that are essential for a successful career in the hospitality industry. This extensive training not only enhances their knowledge but also builds their confidence and competence in handling diverse roles within a hotel setting.
Since December 2022, when we first introduced the IT program for our 7th semester students, the program has expanded significantly. Our strong ties with leading hotels and travel agencies have enabled us to extend this opportunity to students as early as their 2nd semester. This early exposure is crucial in shaping their career trajectories and enhancing their employability. The robust partnerships we have established play a pivotal role in ensuring our students are well-prepared to meet the demands of the hospitality industry, making them capable and competitive candidates for various roles upon graduation.
